The Earth Below originally established in 2010 as a creative outlet for multi-instrumentalist, Deepak Raghu – best known locally as serial drummer for the likes of Shepherd, Bevar Sea, Dying Embrace, Millenium and Kryptos.

From the band’s debut EP ‘Aleph’ (2010) to the debut full length album ‘Nothing Works Vol 2: Hymns for
Useless Gods’ (2020) the band has traversed a cornucopia of musical styles and movements over the

past decade. ‘Nothing Works Vol 2: Hymns for Useless Gods’ was listed in Rolling Stone India’s top 10 albums of 2020.

 

In 2023, The Earth Below returned as a power trio with Ashish Dharkar (Dirge, Pacifist) on guitars and Shreyansh Kejriwal on drums, channeling its myriad influences into a heavy, psychedelic “wall-of-sound” experience rooted in sludge, stoner rock and doom metal.
